MY BACKGROUND

I grew up in Indiana and attended Purdue University.  I received a bachelor's and master's degree from Purdue, and also studied abroad at the University of Madrid, Spain (El Complutense) for my junior year of undergrad, where I became fluent in Spanish. Immediately prior to becoming a Rapid Transformational Therapist, I spent 13 years with Kaiser Permanente working as a Wellness Consultant. In this role, I advised employers all across Northern California on how to design and implement health and well-being programs for their employees.  I currently live in Folsom, California and have two grown children who live in the area.

MENTAL MEANDERINGS

Have you ever wondered where the mind is located? I asked a friend this question once.  After a long pause she said, "behind my left eye?".  We laughed until we cried because no one knows where the mind is!  It's not physical matter like the brain, even though we often use the words mind and brain interchangeably.  It seems to be a kind of invisible energy, like the wind--you know it's there, but you can't see it and typically you don't even notice it.  The mind is difficult to define, understand, to predict.  I believe it's our thoughts and beliefs that supply the energy of our mind.   Our thoughts and beliefs are the wind in our being. Our thoughts turn into feelings or emotions, and then into behavior, action, movement--similar to how the wind leads to movement in the leaves and branches.  This happens hundreds of times a day 24/7/365, within milliseconds.  By learning a few simple 'rules of the mind', you can begin to slow down and observe this process within yourself (this is known as mindfulness), then interrupt and redirect the thoughts that are turning into feelings and behaviors you don't like.  You 'change your mind' all the time, right?  I'm simply going to skillfully guide you to 'change your mind' in ways you likely never have before, and it's going to be fun!  Still no news on whether the mind is located behind the left eye ; )
